Deby is a resplendent fiddler, successfully melding the virtuosity and clarity of classical technique with
the spontaneity of Scottish dance music. She’s received awards in national and regional fiddle championships and tours both nationally
and internationally. Deby is a highly sought-after clinician teaching annually (for almost two decades) at both
of Alasdair Fraser’s fiddle camps. She’s a concert performer opening for notables as famed singer Maddy Prior and
often paired with Celtic guitarist, William Coulter. She’s helped Alasdair Fraser lead the San Francisco Scottish
Fiddlers in many events, both dance and concert. Deby is a producer and independent recording artist, appearing
on well over 30 recordings including “O’er the Moor” and “Beyond the Shore”, and several new releases this year!
Deby’s fiddling’s found on several film scores including a Ken Burns’ documentary viewed on PBS. You’ll find her
published in Mel Bay’s Fiddle Anthology along with the ‘top 40’ of some of the finest fiddlers today and her
latest self-published book Fun Celtic Music Series. She’s an orchestrator and a conductor at Cabrillo College.
Deby performed at Canada’s 2009 TAC, a joyful week with pianist and dance instructor, Muriel Johnstone and others.
She has participated for many years in California’s Asilomar dance retreat; last year she played for dancers
as a trio with David Wiesler-piano and Ralph Gordon-cello/bass. She’s performed several times with Calum MacKinnon
in Washington and BC. She’s on dance CDs “Dance for Joy”, and the “Devil’s Quandry” and currently,
working on another collaboration.
