First couple finish facing out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>17 \u2013 24 First couple cast off two places, dance up the middle and cast off one place. Second couple step up on bars 23 \u2013 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>25 \u2013 28 Second, first and third couples advance and retire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>29 \u2013 32 Second, first and third couples turn partners with right hands once round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeat having passed a couple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recommended tune:- Castle Hill (M.A.J.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE: The term \u2018Ferry Louper\u2019 is an Orkney expression which refers to someone who lives of the Orkney Islands but who was not born there \u2013 i.e. someone who just jumped (or \u2018louped\u2019) onto the ferry and came over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Video: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/MQeakUnDpaE\">Up in the Air<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Up in the Air<\/strong><br \/>RSCDS Book 20 \u2013 No. 2<br \/>32-bar strathspey for three couples in a four-couple longwise set<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 \u2013 8 1st couple cast off, dance down behind own lines and cast up to original places. On bar 8, 1st , 2nd and 3rd couples dance in to meet partners and face up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9 \u2013 16 1st, 2nd and 3rd couples dance a promenade. (now there\u2019s a surprise!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pawling Weekend (run by the New York Branch) and situated 45 miles north of \u2018the City\u2019 is a brilliant weekend.
